Gerry Gianoli

Dr. Gerard J. Gianoli graduated summa cum laude from Tulane Engineering School where he majored in Biomedical Engineering and then completed Medical School at Tulane as well.  He did a General Surgery internship, General Pediatrics internship and an Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency at Tulane.  He completed a fellowship in Neuro-otology and Skull Base Surgery at the Michigan Ear Institute and then joined the faculty of Tulane Medical School.  Although he continues his affiliation with Tulane as a Clinical Associate Professor in the departments of Otolaryngology and Pediatrics, he has been in private practice at The Ear and Balance Institute in Baton Rouge since July 2000, where his practice is limited to otology, neuro-otology, and skull base surgery.  He is board certified in Otolaryngology since 1993 and is one of less than 150 board certified neuro-otologists in the country.  He has received numerous awards including the American Academy of Otolaryngology’s Honor Award and has been named to America’s Top Doctors and America’s Top Physicians for every year since their inception in 2001 and 2003 respectively.  Dr. Gianoli practices all aspects of neuro-otology but has a special interest in vestibular (balance) disorders.  He has had 8 research grants – mostly dealing with inner ear issues.  He has been director and/or on the faculty of the national Vestibular Testing Course jointly sponsored by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Neuro-otology Society for 7 years and has given numerous other courses regarding vestibular subjects.  He has given 104 international or national presentations, has 85 publications in peer-reviewed journals, has written 29 book chapters and has been an editor or reviewer for 14 professional journals. 

Dr. Gianoli opted out of Medicare in 2001 and has had a 100% third-party-free practice since 2005.
